In September 2007 he
was appointed Director of Music at Herne Hill School, which is a well established independent School in South-East London. The school’s ethos is best summarised by the motto “Herne Hill School
for love, care and an excellent education”.
Music and drama have a
strong tradition at Herne Hill
School and are regarded as central to its ethos. Most of the plays are tailored for the children by being composed and written in house.
at Herne Hill is to teach music to all 14 classes at the school with a clear sense of progression through the year groups. In addition, he musically accompanies school assemblies as well as devising and
producing class assemblies, plays, festivals and other musical events.
As Hof the Music Dpt. he organises the individual instrumental lessons
taught by peripatetic teachers. The focus and content of the weekly lessons changes
throughout the year in line with the school events, which largely follow the Christian calendar.
